GRANT APPLICATIONS

Llandudno Town Council awards grants annually to voluntary and charitable organisations which provide a service for, or benefit the whole community within the Llandudno area or a particular group of residents.   As well as grants to existing organisations, The Town Council can also provide start up grants for new organisations. 

Applications are currently being invited for financial year 2012/2013.  If you would like to apply for a Town Council Grant please contact the Town Council office for an application form (Please see below for application criteria). 

Completed applications need to be returned by Monday 7th November 2011 to:

If you decide to bring your application by hand to Llandudno Town Hall, you can hand in your entry at the Town Council reception situated on the first floor. Please do not hand in your entry at the main reception downstairs.  We will acknowledge receipt of all applications received.

Please note that the Town Council has limited funds available for the awarding of grants and the number of applications each year always exceeds the budget available.  The awarding of grants and the amount of funding allocated is at the discretion of the Town Council.  In 2010 the total grants awarded by the Town Council exceed £65,000.

 

GRANT APPLICATION CRITERIA

Who can apply?

The following may apply for grant aid:

  • A Llandudno based club/association/charity serving a specific section of the community or the community as a whole. 
  • Residents of Llandudno requesting grant aid with a project/event, which will be of benefit to the local community.
  • Applications may also be considered from:
    1. An organisation/group, local, regional or national which serves the needs of the Town (i.e the wards of Craig Y Don, Gogarth, Mostyn, Penrhyn, Tudno).
    2.A local branch of a regional or national organisation/group which serves the needs of the residents of Llandudno.

To be eligible for a grant:

An organisation must:

  • Be established for charitable, benevolent, social, cultural, recreational or philanthropic purposes and be non commercial.
  • Have a constitution (or set of rules) which define its aims, objectives and operational procedures.
  • Be able to provide a copy of its latest audited annual accounts and most recent bank statements.
  • Have a clear financial need.
  • Have a specific brief for how the money will be spent to benefit the Llandudno community.

What will not normally be funded:

Council regrets that it cannot normally, consider applications from the following:

"Upwqard funders" i.e. local groups whose total fund raising is sent to a regional or national headquarters for re distribution and not spent locally.

New organisations:

If the applicant is a new organisation, or about to form and does not have audited accounts or a constitution, then a copy of the most recent bank statement or supporting documentation should be submitted.  The council will need to know why the group is being formed, the need for the group and how it will be continued.

Who makes the decision and when are grants given:

Grants are normally awarded annually with applications considerered by the Grants Sub-Committee in December for the following financial year.  Recommendations from the Grants Sub-Committee will be submitted to the Finance & General Purposes Committee for consideration and final approval.  Following ratification by the Finance and General Purposes Committee, applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application. 

Conditions of grant:

  • The grant can only be used for the purpose stated in the application and the Council reserves the right to reclaim all/or part of any grant not being used for the specified purpose of the application.
  • Prior approval of the Council is required if any change of purpose of the grant is required.
  • Should for any reason the organisation disband during the period of the grant, the Council may ask for all/part of the monies to be paid back.
  • Grants must be used within 12 months.
  • Organisations are responsible for ensuring that they are in compliance with all legal and statutory requirements.
  • The applicants must acknowledge, where possible, the financial support of the Town Council on promotional literature.
  • An organisation may only submit one grant application per year.
