The Council Chamber
The Council chamber is situated within the Town Hall in Lloyd Street and affords the Council a very attractive setting from which to conduct their business.

The chamber is owned by Conwy County Borough Council and is used for a variety of other meetings in a busy daily schedule. Many of the pictures, fixtures and fittings in the chamber belong to the Town Council and show the historical routes of the authority, and its evolution from the former Llandudno Urban District Council.

Historical facts about the Town Hall:

Site given by Lord Mostyn to commerate Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee (1897).

Architect : T B Silcock (Bath)

Builder : R Luther Roberts (Llandudno)

A competition was held for the design - Silcock won £50!

A Government inquiry was held into the cost.

Foundation Stone laid 26 October 1899.

Opened 10 February 1902 by Sir Albert K Rollit MP who was the President of the Municipal Corporations of the United Kingdom.

The Council borrowed £16,000 to fund the original building.

Originally many of the offices were rented by private business such as architects and income tax advisors.

Various extensions have been made in the post war years .  Most recently in 1989 when the assembly room was adapted to meet the needs of the short-lived community charge or poll tax.
