The new Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Greg J T Robbins, was officially sworn in on Friday, 20th May 2011. The ceremony, was held at the Assembly Room, Llandudno Town Hall and witnessed by over 120 guests.  Cllr Robbins paid tribute to the outgoing Mayor Cllr Mrs Ann Yates, thanking her for all her hard work on behalf of the Council during her Mayoral year.

The retiring Mayor, Cllr Mrs Ann Yates offered the new Mayor and Mayoress her support and wished them a successful and happy year in office. Cllr Mrs Myra Wigzell was installed on the same evening as Deputy Mayor of Llandudno for 2011 -2012.

The Mayor, Cllr Greg J T Robbins late father's family are from the area.  His grandfather owned a farm in Llandudno Junction and until fairly recently he had relatives running a shop and a cafe in Llandudno.  Although he was brought up in England, he fell in love with Llandudno from an early age as his family always came to the town on holiday and to visit relatives.  He moved back to the area in 1984.

He works as a Contracts Manager for a local construction company and has been involved in the industry since starting work on the Conwy Tunnel in 1987 for Tarmac Construction.  Cllr Robbins is married to Debbie with two daughters, Kira aged 14 and Holly aged 25, and has two grand children, Elysia and Jack.  He is also an animal lover and has three rescue dogs at home.

Prior to becoming Mayor, he has held the office off Deputy Mayor, has been Chairman of the Planning & Transportation Committee for two years and is a very active member of various other committees and sub-committees including Community Services, Finance and General Purposes, Transportation and Public Rights of Way, Decorative Lighting and Staffing.  He also represents the Council on the Great Orme Management Advisory Group, the Llandudno and Colwyn Bay Light Tram Society and the Llandudno Development Partnership.

In addition to his council held positions, he is the Treasurer of the Llandudno and District Darts League, a Governor of Ysgol John Bright High School and Vice Chair of Governors of Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd Primary School.  He was also the Chairman of the Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza until December 2010.  Cllr Robbins also has a long standing interest in Amateur Radio having held a callsign since 1992 and he was Secretary and then Chairman of the North Wales Radio Society for several years and helped organise the annual Radio show that is held in Llandudno.

He has a passion for local history and with the backing of the Council is currently working on a Living History project for the town to make the history of Llandudno more accessible.

The Town Mayor welcomes invitations to attend events held in the Town. The Mayor may also represent Llandudno at functions outside the Town.

If you would like to invite the Mayor to your event or function please contact the Mayor's Secretary on 01492 879130 to check the Mayor's diary and his availability.

We would be grateful if requests could be confirmed in writing or via email, stating the date, time, venue, background information of your event and what the Town Mayor is required to do.

Letters should be addressed to the Mayor of Llandudno, Cllr Greg J T Robbins and can be opened with 'Dear Mr Mayor'.

Useful Information:

When introducing the Mayor at the event please address him as 'The Mayor of Llandudno, Councillor Greg J T Robbins. When addressing the Mayor please note that the correct form of address is 'Mr Mayor'.

If the Mayor is not able to attend due to other commitments then it may be possible for the Deputy Mayor to attend.

Unless the organiser specifically requests otherwise it is usual for the Mayoress, to accompany the Mayor to all functions.
