Llandudno Town Twinning Visit to Wormhout

What an incredible few days for the Llandudno Town Twinning visit to Wormhout, France!

From 3rd–7th July, the delegation enjoyed a packed programme celebrating friendship, remembrance, culture, music and community.

The visit began with a warm welcome in Wormhout, followed by a special celebration recognising Revd Mike Harrison after his charity cycle ride from Llandudno to Wormhout.

Remembrance was an important part of the visit, with tributes paid at La Plaine au Bois, Wormhout Cemetery and the Wormhout War Memorial. Wreaths were also laid at Llandudno Alley, honouring those affected by the tragic events of the past.

There was also plenty of opportunity to experience the culture and hospitality of our twin town, including a visit to Lille, a parade and Mass in Esquelbecq, and a wonderful Civic Lunch hosted by our French friends.

A major highlight was the fantastic performances from the Powerplay Dancers, who entertained audiences with their energy and talent at concerts throughout the weekend.

The delegation was also delighted to attend the opening of an exhibition of paintings of Llandudno at the Médiathèque, followed by an evening of music and celebration in the town square.

Most importantly, the weekend celebrated the enduring friendship between Llandudno and Wormhout — bringing communities together, strengthening longstanding ties and creating new memories.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone in Wormhout who made the delegation so welcome, as well as the host families, performers, both Town Twinning Committees, drivers and everyone who helped make the visit such a memorable success.
