Llandudno in Bloom Achieves Gold once again

Llandudno Town Council were delighted to be able to hold the Llandudno in Bloom Awards Ceremony in person at the Town Hall on 28th September 2022.

Entries came from a variety of categories; guesthouses, hotels, pubs, Friends groups and community centres and a high number of private garden entries, a sign that lockdown created a community of green fingered residents!

The Chairman of Llandudno in Bloom, Cllr Louise Emery commented,

“The standard was very high with many Gold Awards given out, but it was a special year for the private garden entry for Barbara Jennison & Howard Jones from West Shore who were not only overall winner at the Llandudno in Bloom Awards, but also won best private garden from all the entries across Wales - an outstanding achievement.

Thanks goes to the Awards sponsors that supply the trophies and to the volunteer judges.

We are very much looking forward to next year’s competition and hope to see many more private gardens and businesses show off their ‘blooming’ green space”

Llandudno in Bloom was delighted to be presented with a Gold award once again in the Royal Horticultural Society’s Wales in Bloom competition, at the awards ceremony held in Beaumaris on Friday 9th September 2022.  Llandudno has been participating in the Wales in Bloom competition since 1986, previously winning gold in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 and 2021.

It has been a very successful year for Llandudno in Bloom. In addition to winning Gold in Category 11 – Coastal (12,001 and above), there were also a high number of It’s Your Neighbourhood entries from Llandudno who achieved the top-level award (please see below for list of It’s Your Neighbourhood Awards) and Ben Jones from Penrhyn Bay was awarded the Jim Goodwin Young Person award.  This is awarded annually to a young person (under 26 years of age) for their outstanding commitment and support in ‘helping their community grow’.

Cllr Louise Emery, Chairman, Llandudno in Bloom, commented “The Wales in Bloom competition highlights the commitment of Llandudno residents to their local park, beach, church and community buildings, making them greener, cleaner places, working alongside the Town Council and the dedicated Conwy County Borough Council Open Spaces and Parks team.  It is a very productive partnership, and I am proud to be Chairman of Llandudno in Bloom in what has been a gold winning year”.
